Oral health is very important for many people and finding a dentist who perfectly suits their needs is a priority. Generally, patients tend to select a dentist and remain in the practice for a long time. However, under specific circumstances, such as moving to a new neighborhood, people have to find new doctors.
During your initial meeting at our dental office, our dentist will thoroughly discuss with you the various treatments that we offer including those that specifically suit your needs.
If you are pleased with the initial meeting, our team at Rocky Creek Dental Care will further assist you in scheduling an appointment for a formal check-up. Before the appointment, you will be required to fill out new patient forms along with providing any prior dental history/records. We suggest that you arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure that you have plenty of time to fill out these forms.
For your convenience, our office also provides the choice of filling out the forms before coming to the dental office. Patients can download the health history forms from our website and fill in all the required details. This information will be stored in our database and evaluated prior to your session. Once our dentist reviews your health history forms and your appointment is set, you will be ready to meet our dentist again and begin your formal dental examination.

After reviewing your dental health history, our dentist will examine your gums, teeth, and mouth. This procedure is known as a comprehensive exam, through which our dentist will observe the state of your dental health and hygiene. An important part of the comprehensive exam is the digital X-ray and teeth cleaning.
Our dentist will look for any sensitivity, decay, and redness around the gums and teeth during the examination, and explain any findings. Even though our dentist will review your medical and dental history in the forms you filled, he might still ask you questions about your teeth while examining them. This is common and can help our dentist identify anything unusual or any information not mentioned in the new patient forms.
After conducting the comprehensive exam, our dentist will take an x-ray of your mouth, which will give a clear picture of the status of your teeth and jaw. These scans are taken to better analyze oral disruptions, diseases, and cavities. The x-rays are suggested to be performed either when there is a severe problem, or routinely, once a year, to verify any changes from the last visit.
Although believed to be a lengthy process, x-rays usually don’t take more than a few minutes and are completely safe. The procedure is simple and without discomfort. You will be asked to bite down on the gauze and only your mouth will be scanned by the machine. The rest of your body will be protected by a special device. After the procedure, the x-rays will be stored in your file for future reference.
Post Examination Consultation
Once the initial dental check-up is completed, our dentist will discuss the results with you. Our dentist will explain any findings such as irregularities or decay in your mouth, along with your overall oral health. He will mention the various treatment options that are offered at our dental office. Our dentist will suggest the most appropriate and detailed treatment plan for your specific needs, customized to your requirements and your dental issues. You will also have the opportunity to clarify any doubts or questions that you may have regarding your oral health.
After meeting our dentist at Rocky Creek Dental Care and discussing possible dental treatments in detail, we will schedule a follow-up session at your convenience. These follow-up sessions will be mostly for cleaning and preparing your teeth for the upcoming procedures.
We suggest visiting our office twice a year to prevent any cavities, tooth decay or any other oral health issue. During these routine check-ups, the teeth are usually cleaned and treated to ensure that they remain in good shape. In addition, during these routine check-ups, our dentist can track your oral health condition and work on any preventive procedure to maintain your teeth in good shape.
